Nigeria Election, 2011, An improvement -- Local Observer

ABEOKUTA, Nigeria — A coalition of local observer groups say Nigeria's first of three important April elections was "not perfect," but it offered an improvement over past flawed polls.

Project 2011 Swift Count, a coalition of organizations, issued a statment Sunday saying the oil-rich nation's electoral commission still faces logistical challenges after Saturday's National Assembly vote. The group also says one in five of the stations it monitored failed to post results as required.
The group also reported isolated cases of ballot boxes being stolen.
Nigeria, a chief supplier of crude oil to the U.S., will hold presidential and gubernatorial elections in the coming weeks.
