The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, has informed the people that it cannot work with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which is the ruling party in Nigeria, under any circumstance even as it dismissed a
media report that the party has been allocated five ministerial slots in the incoming cabinet of President Goodluck Jonathan.National Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, in a statement reiterated the party’s earlier stand that it would not be part of the Government of National Unity, GNU, being planned by the President.
According to the statement, “since light and darkness cannot co-habit, ACN cannot work with the PDP under any circumstance.
“How can the ACN get any ministerial slot when the party leadership has said, categorically, that it is not interested in the coalition government being planned by the President? On what basis will the cabinet slots be given to the ACN? And is it by force that we participate in President Jonathan’s government?
“As we said before, we are the leading opposition party and a government-in-waiting. Our stand is based on our aim of fostering a strong democratic system, which cannot be achieved in a one-party state that our participation in a unity government will help to achieve.”
ACN said no amount of shenanigans by those who are planting such devious stories will force the party to rescind its decision not to participate in the GNU.
