The Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC) has commended President Goodluck Jonathan’s courage in sustaining INEC’s independence during the just-concluded April general elections.
NLC President Abdulwaheed Omar gave the commendation during May Day celebration in Abuja on Sunday.According to him, the conduct of the elections has shown that it is possible to have credible elections in the country.
He said it was made possible by the commitment, courage and integrity of the new INEC team, led by Prof. Attahiru Jega.
He noted that in spite of all odds, the INEC chairman lived up to the expectations of Nigerians and the international community.
“We commend Mr President for not only choosing the right person to do the job but also ensuring that the independence of the electoral body is sustained at all times.
