NNPC loading depot in Warri rocked by Explosion

An  explosion  rocked the Pipeline and Product Marketing Company, PPMC, loading depot in Warri, Delta State causing panic and apprehension amongst the local people.

The PPMC is a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC located within the WRPC area and Ubeji, Ifie, Ajaetan, Jalla and Ekpan communities in both Warri south and Uvwie local government council areas of the state.
Details of what led to the explosion could not be ascertain as at press time as men of the fire service department from the NNPC and Shell are battling to put out the raging inferno and restores normalcy.
Marketers, workers and traders were seen running out in droves from the scene for their dear lives as the explosion is said to have emanated from the loading Island while a petroleum tanker was being loaded.
Though no lost of life was reported, damages running into millions of naira must have taken place considering the busy nature of the depot where hundreds of persons, tankers and other vehicle are parked daily, thus raising fear of fuel scarcity in the state.
No official of the PPMC was willing to comment on the incident when contacted but the State Police Public Relation officer, ASP Charles Muka told newsmen could not confirm the incident but promise to get details.
