Another violence started between the two factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in some motor parks in Ibadan, Oyo State, leaving no fewer than 10 persons seriously injured.
Vanguard gathered that the clash started when some members of the union loyal to the reinstated Chairman, Alhaji Lateef Akinsola, also known as Tokyo, stormed some parks in the city to take over from some suspected supporters of Alhaji Lamidi Mukaila who have been controlling the parks.
The union for some time now, has been engulfed in leadership crisis that had led to the death of scores of people including the factional chairman of the union, Alhaji Lateef Salako, aka Eleweomo.
As a result of the intra union crisis, some members supported the out-going Governor of the state, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala while others were said to have supported the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.
The violence which reportedly commenced at Bodija, Ibadan North Local Government, spread across the city with some members of the union who allegedly worked for the ACN moving from one park to the other saying, since the party had won the election, they would henceforth oversee the affairs of the union. The move was said to have been violently resisted by the other faction.
Those injured were reportedly taken to undisclosed hospitals where they were treated and discharged.
