Despite the crackdown on Boko Haram, by security agencies in Maiduguri, the sect headquarters and the arrest of 58 of its members , after the bombing of Police Headquarters in Abuja, Thursday, seven
suspected members of the sect, Sunday, shot and killed two people in two separate attacks in the Borno state capital.The attacks were at Gomari Bus Stop and Bama Road Wrestling area of town, leaving four people seriously injured.
The suspects it was gathered rode on motorcycles with their AK47 rifles hidden under their ”flowing gowns’“, before firing several shots at the people playing porker under a nearby tree .
An eyewitness and resident of Gomari ward, name withheld said: “The suspects fired several shots at 14 people playing porker under a Neem tree and killed Ngadda Waturfa, 45, a nurse with Molai General Hospital, on the spot, as others ran for dear lives.
“When members of the Joint Military/Police Taskforce (JMPT) got to the scene, four people who sustained injuries were taken to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) by the security men.”
Confirming the incidents, the Borno state police commissioner, Mohammed Abubakar told our reporter (on the phone) that, “our Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Gomari sent in a distress call on the attacks at the Bus Stop at 5pm.”
“Some Boko Haram suspects opened fire at people playing porker under a tree, killed one on the spot, while four others sustained bullet wounds in their legs and arms and a few others were lucky to escape unhurt.”- Vanguard
