Registration for Anambra citizen

IN a bid to avoid spill over of the security crisis ravaging parts of the country into the state, Anambra State government has embarked on the registration of its people in all 177 communities in the state for easy

identification.

Governor Peter Obi disclosed this, yesterday, at the end of a security meeting in Awka.

The governor said: “We held a meeting with all the traditional rulers, town unions president-general, market leaders and security chiefs in order to dialogue on the best way to ensure that Anambra remains the most peaceful state in the country.

“Part of the resolutions reached at the meeting was the registration of everybody in the state for ease of identification.

“To this end, a bill will be sent to the state House of Assembly for passage.”

Obi, who is the chairman of South-East Governors’ Forum, said the zone would also discuss the security situation with a view to adopting a general strategy.

He also said the state government had given a one-week ultimatum to hoodlums in the state to leave as something big was underway to flush out criminal elements.-vanguard
