Activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange NSE resumed Monday on bearish note as equities value represented by the market capitalistion declined by N60.7 billion
specifically, the capitalisation declined by 0.75 per cent to close at N8.031 trillion from N8.092 trillion at which it opened. Another key performance indices, the All share index depreciated by 0.75 per cent or 189.76 bases points to close at 25,119.41 points from 25,309.17 points.
Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc led on the losers table dropping by 4.96 per cent or N0.66 to close at N12.64 per share, Longman Nigeria Plc followed with a loss of N0.29 to close at N5.67 per share and Honeywell Flour Mill Plc dipped by N0.22 to close at N4.33 per share.
Other share price losers include: Bags Manufacturing Company Plc N0.13, Paints and Coating Manufacturing Plc N0.08, C&I Leasing Plc N0.06, First Bank Nigeria Plc N0.60, Skye Bank Plc N0.38, Continental Reinsurance Plc N0.05, Nigerian Wire and Cables Plc N0.03, among others.
Other contrary, Afribank Plc led on the losers table with 4.76 per cent or N0.05 to close at N1.10 per share, Air Services and Logistics Plc followed with N0.12 gain to close at N2.66 per share and Oceanic Bank Plc garnered N0.05 to close at N1.16 per share.
Other share price gainers include: Bank PHB Plc N0.03, AIICO Insurance Plc N0.03, Ecobank Transnational Incorporation Plc N0.52, Union Homes Saving and Loans Plc N0.02, Costain West Africa Plc N0.10,PZ Cussons Plc N0.70, Eterna Oil Plc N0.06, among others.
Equity trading plunge 40 per cent as a turnover of 398.80 million shares valued at N6.46 billion was recorded in 4,774 deals, in contrast 664.69 million shares valued at N1.77 billion in 4,498 deals.
The Building Materials sub-sector was the most active on the sectorial analysis accounting for 47.71 per cent of the market turnover with 190.26 million shares valued at N4.59 million in 110 deals. Ashaka Cement Plc boosted activities in the sub-sector trading 189.28 million shares valued at N4.54 million in 52 deals, Lafarge Cement WAPCO Plc followed with the exchange of 784.318 million shares valued at N36.93 million in 29 deals and Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Plc recorded 100.50 million shares valued at one million in nine deals. ‘
The Banking sub-sector followed on the sectorial analysis accounting for 22.61 per cent of the market turnover with 90.18 million shares valued at N514.32 million in 2,730 deals. Intercontinental Bank Plc was the most sought after in the sub-sector trading 16.53 million shares value at N16.07 million in 144 deals, Guaranty Trust Bank Plc followed with the exchange of 9.05 million shares valued at N143.57 million in 450 deals and Bank PHB Plc recorded 7.74 million shares valued at N5.50 million in 117 deals.-vanguard
